kimberly davion’s midnight design studio

Being bit of a gypsy, I am always moving to new locales.  Therefore, my studio is always on the move. I live, play and call this temporary 12×14 room the current home of Midnight Design Studio.  It is actually a converted dining room turned studio inside our cozy Spanish cottage that we rent along the Pensacola Bay in Florida. midnight design studioI share my very sunny studio space with my pet cockatiel, Mr. Buddy. He is my partner in art crimes and random mischievousness, along with him being the Midnight Design Studio quality control inspector.

It is always evolving, so bright, so happy and completely bliss to any art hermit. I spend hours upon hours tucked away designing custom/personalized cards and invitations and painting mixed media collections … if it were not for my beautiful husband, Mr. Davion, to lure me out, I think I could live in there – Just push the plate of food under the door, yes please!  graphic workstation in midnight design studioBeing in a small space means that I am always working on my organizational skills, finding unique ways for storage and basically keeping tidy – all three tasks are a huge undertaking on my unorganized clutter-bug personality. shelf of art supplies in midnight design studioMost of my studio furniture is vintage or re-purposed – from the sewing table, to my drawing table, to my graphics workstation/storage dresser… all vintage. My large wooden easel, that I cherish dearly, was saved from a yard sale reject turned scrap pile found by my dad. I find that these pieces inspire me to be resourceful, eco-friendly, and creative. I also find it humbling – to be appreciative and grateful for the small things – sometimes it is nice to have a simplistic clean working Studio space.

Hi Kim. I just found the e-mail from you today and decided to check it out. I love reading about the things that you do as we don’t get to visit in person too often. You have definitely been blessed by God with tremendous talent and we (back home in McHenry) are so very proud of you. I hope to see you soon as I know you will be heading this way any time now for the birth of your sweet neice. Much Love,
    Aunt Deb
