co-owner (in charge of the hard stuff)
Susan comes to the indie·pendent with extensive experience in retail management. She has managed numerous large retail store openings, multi-million dollar inventories and teams upwards of 300 employees. Susan has also written operation manuals for multiple stores of 50+ employees.
Susan’s career in retail management began while she was in college earning a Bachelor’s of Psychology from Brenau Women’s College. During her seven year stint in the retail industry, she was offered the opportunity to relocate to Seattle, Wa. Having always lived on the east coast, Susan was excited about the opportunity and headed west. While her first home in Seattle had a breathtaking view, it needed a little TLC. Knowing little about restoring homes, a new found passion was emerging. Susan enjoyed working on the house so much that she returned to school to pursue a degree in Construction Restoration. This led to a long line of degrees which included Cabinet and Fine Furniture Making. It was here that she found her niche. Susan attended the Marc Adams School of Woodworking where she learned from many well known furniture makers.
Susan returned to Atlanta in 2003 seeking sunny days and to once again be close to family and friends. An opportunity arose as a project manager in the exhibit industry and Susan found her current home with a wonderful custom exhibit house. Her love for furniture making is still strong and she spends every free moment in her shop with the hopes to one day share her skills with other aspiring furniture makers.
