mia broder

I was born on Flag Day in Atlanta as Michelle Anne Broder, although I’ve been called Mia since day one. As a child, my family moved to the back pasture of my grandparents’ farm, where my parents still live today. (A 225 acre farm is a wonderful place for madness to run wild. Many photos from my books are from that farm.) Following my passion at every turn, I went to four schools for undergrad. I finished at the Universtiy of Georgia with a degree in Advertising. After spending six months in Europe, I returned to enroll at the Creative Circus for art direction. A year into the program, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. One psychotic break later, I transferred to Portfolio Center. After two more painful years, I finally completed art school and was seemingly ready for the real world. It took me three more years to move out of my parents’ house. After numerous jobs and another small “break”, I realized a 9 to 5 job is not for me. Today, I have my own graphic design firm and locally speak on the Creativity and Mental Illness.
